Water Consumption in CA

Reducing total acreage of grass and using recycled water are two methods CA golf courses have used to reduce water consumption. But high temperatures and increasing water usage from other sectors have usage down only 0.8 percent compared to the same period last year. And while that may sound like progress--which is good since CA is in one of the most severe droughts in its history--water usage has actually increased since 2010 (which was the lowest year of water consumption in recent history).
