The John Deere World Championship celebrated its 28th year this December, 2014, at the PGA West & La Quinta Resort. The winners, posting a score of 101 in the two-day tournament, were Cole Combs and Alan Nietenhoefer (P&K Equipment), Derron Day (FireLake Golf Club), and Kyle Phillips (VGM Club). “We are honored to present our champions with the new John Deere Cady Trophy,” said Dave Plaster, North American sales manager, “named after John Deere’s grandson, a golf silver medalist in the 1904 Olympics.”
Cady’s silver medal was earned as part of the American team in the team competition (in which he finished 23rd); in the individual competition “he finished 27th in the qualification and was eliminated in the first round of the match play.” Check out the article below for more on the present-day tournament.
