Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Connecticut, due to its efforts to “protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game,” was recently re-designated a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.” The course initially received the designation in 1988 and is required to repeat the review process every year; this allows it to remain one of 13 certified sanctuaries in the state, and one of the 913 in the world. The certification was awarded to this particularly course because of its implemented- and documented- “environmental management practices, including environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, water quality management, and outreach and education.”
