SePRO Corporation enters into Exclusive Development and Supply Agreement with Dow AgroSciences LLC for the Development of a New Aquatic Herbicide.
May 5, 2004 - Dow AgroSciences has announced today the signing of a worldwide development and supply agreement with SePRO Corporation of Carmel, Indiana, for the development of a new herbicide for use in non-crop aquatic environments. SePRO has code named this new developmental product SP-1019. The product use patterns would include selective invasive weed control in lakes, reservoirs, ponds, irrigation canals, rivers, marshes and wetlands.

The new herbicide is the aquatic industry's newest advancement in aquatic plant management and is showing the promise to be the next generation Sonar*. SP-1019 will be fully characterized for the public at the upcoming National Aquatic Plant Management Society (APMS) meeting in July. The Product is on an accelerated developmental timeline and is currently being tested under an Experimental Use Permit issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Research to-date shows the product SP-1019 to be a very promising product for the selective control of hydrilla and other submersed and emerged invasive aquatic plants. "We are very pleased with the progress being made in the development of such a promising compound," said Dr. Steve Cockreham, Vice President of Research and Development for SePRO Corporation. "SP-1019 is meeting most of the parameters, set by SePRO, as to the desired characteristics in an aquatic herbicide.
