Field Development Scientist Briscoe Bolsters SePRO Ag Research

Carmel, IN - When the cotton industry turned to SePRO Corporation in 2011 to inquire about the use of SonarĀ® Aquatic Herbicide for the control of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth (pigweed), SePRO already offered more than 50 products in the aquatics, turf & ornamental, nursery/greenhouse and pharmaceutical markets. Now, after two years of successful field trials, a new product formulation called BrakeĀ® F2 Herbicide and Section 18 emergency exemptions for its use in four states this year, SePRO has approached this opportunity with its characteristic commitment to research and technical support.

The addition of Dr. Kyle Briscoe to the SePRO Research and Technology Campus (SRTC) in Whitakers, NC strengthens the company’s commitment to product stewardship and solutions oriented research. Briscoe joins the Research and Regulatory Affairs department as its Field Development Scientist and will manage the field research efforts at the SRTC, initially focusing on the technical development and support for Brake F2 in Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The SRTC is a 410-acre field laboratory housing research, manufacturing, formulation development, analytical chemistry and logistics departments. The complex allows SePRO scientists a unique ability to implement all phases and scales of research and development from laboratory to field trials.

Dr. Briscoe brings the experience of hands-on field research and a decade-long academic career in plant and soil sciences. Briscoe holds a BS degree in Plant Science from the University of Missouri, where he also conducted graduate research in Weed Science. After earning a MS in Crop Science from North Carolina State University, Briscoe completed an agronomy PhD at Mississippi State University. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Agronomy, Crop, Soil and Weed Science Societies of America.

SePRO President William Culpepper says Briscoe will make an immediate contribution. “We’re very excited about the opportunities SePRO has with Brake F2 and in cotton,” said Culpepper. “It’s important that we provide the highest level of research and technical support to these opportunities and we are very pleased Kyle Briscoe will be managing these efforts.”
