BASF selects SePRO Corporation to market Clearcast® and Clearcast® 2.7G herbicides

Companies also sign product development agreement for the aquatics market

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, and CARMEL, IN, January 22, 2010 – BASF Professional Vegetation Management and SePRO Corporation today announced a marketing partnership for Clearcast® herbicide and Clearcast® 2.7G herbicide.

Effective immediately, SePRO will be the exclusive marketer of these two herbicides for the U.S. aquatic market. In addition, BASF and SePRO have entered into a development agreement and will work together to bring more new and innovative aquatic products to this market in the future. Terms of these agreements were not disclosed.

Clearcast, which contains the active ingredient imazamox, is a liquid aquatic herbicide used to control floating, emerged and shoreline weed species while allowing desirable plants to colonize. Clearcast can also be used for growth regulation of undesirable submersed hydrilla, keeping hydrilla’s growth in check while protecting open water for sport, fishing habitat, or allowing for free water movement in case of the need for flood control. Clearcast 2.7G, which also contains imazamox, is the new granular formulation of the herbicide that will deliver the active ingredient to the depths of the targeted water body where submersed weeds get their start, more effectively distributing Clearcast to these rapidly growing plants.

“This agreement is an exciting path forward for BASF in the aquatics market and we look forward to working with SePRO,” said Brian Lish, Business Manager, BASF Professional Vegetation Management. “Customers of the Clearcast products will benefit greatly from this relationship.”

“SePRO is proud that BASF has chosen our company to steward their interests in the U.S. Aquatics Industry,” said Bill Culpepper, President and CEO of SePRO Corporation. “SePRO is determined to further develop these new solutions for aquatic managers into the multiple market opportunities for Clearcast and Clearcast 2.7G, as well as other BASF active ingredients that show promise in aquatics, when they emerge from BASF’s discovery pipeline.”
