SePRO Corporation has entered into an exclusive supply agreement with FMC Corporation to bring Stingray® Aquatic Herbicide to the U.S. Aquatic Market

Carmel, IN – January 7, 2014 – SePRO Corporation announced today it has entered an exclusive supply agreement with FMC Corporation to bring Stingray® Aquatic Herbicide (active ingredient: carfentrazone-ethyl) to the U.S. Aquatic Market. Stingray was initially registered for aquatic use in 2004 and represented the first aquatic herbicide in the PPO inhibitor herbicide category.

SePRO is pleased to offer Stingray for the management of invasive floating aquatic weeds such as, water hyacinth, water lettuce, and giant salvinia. Stingray provides managers with a unique and economical tool for simultaneous foliar treatment of these problem species with excellent selectivity to desirable native plants. Stingray provides fast-acting injury to susceptible floating weed species following application allowing operational field crews to visually see their treatment areas in 24 - 48 hours. Stingray can be used alone or in combination with other systemic herbicides such as Galleon® SC (active ingredient: penoxsulam) or AquaPro® (active ingredient: glyphosate).

SePRO Corporationis a research-based Life Sciences Company focused on the specialty chemical and pharmaceutical industries. “Stingray in combination with Galleon provides fast-acting systemic control of water hyacinth and water lettuce with little impact to desirable native plants. Stingray in combination with glyphosate provides an economical solution for long-term control of giant salvinia”, said Dr. Mark Heilman, Aquatic Technology Leader for SePRO.

“Stingray is a unique compound that can have great benefit for managers of aquatic invasive species. We believe SePRO’s research and field development expertise and capabilities will greatly enhance the current and future use of Stingray for resource managers”, said Bill Culpepper, President and CEO of SePRO.

“I look forward to working with our team at SePRO to develop Stingray for the control of invasive variable-leaf milfoil as well as refine its use on tough to control coontail and other aquatic plant species”, said Scott Shuler, Specialty Market Development Manager for SePRO.
